Finding Strength and Stability in the Sandwich Generation Storm
Being part of the Sandwich Generation means balancing care for aging parents, growing children, demanding careers, and yourself, often all at the same time. I know this life well. I came to the United States from Ukraine at 17 and quickly became the family helper, translator, and caregiver while building my nursing career. Within a decade, I was right in the middle of the sandwich, caring for grandparents, a disabled uncle, and a young daughter while running a business.
Caregiving is no longer a quiet burden carried by a few. A Johns Hopkins study shows that family caregiving for older adults grew by 32 percent in just ten years, and weekly care hours for people with dementia rose nearly 50 percent. These numbers reflect what many of us feel every day, more responsibility, less support, and constant pressure to keep everything together.
This book is my heartfelt guide to help you navigate that reality. It combines personal stories, practical tools, and spiritual insights inspired by teachers like Atul Gawande, Joe Dispenza, Wayne Dyer, Viktor Frankl, and Martha Beck. My own journey taught me that spirituality can be an anchor in times of overwhelm, and I hope it offers you the same strength and peace.
The book includes 18 short chapters, a number that symbolizes life, energy, and the infinite source that guides us. I dedicate this work to my family, my mentors, and the One Infinite Presence that continues to light my path.
